As final plans were made to put together a team, 7 employees from Ventura, Oakland, and Fugro Pelagos in San Diego committed to walk the event together. After months of continuous fundraising, Fugro West raised $18,290 to donate to the Komen Foundation. Team Fugro's Best Walks for the Breast held monthly event fundraisers and trained weekly to prepare for the Susan G. Komen 3-Day Breast Cancer Walk, a weekend event where participants camp overnight and walk over 20 miles each day taking a stand for the cause.

Fugro's support of the team comes from a long history of raising awareness to health issues and charitable causes. In the past, Fugro has participated in events to support multiple sclerosis and histiocytosis, as well as donating items and funds to needy families during the holiday season. The majority of fundraising for the 3-Day Walk came directly from Fugro employees, as well as the help provided to put on events. This year's San Diego walk brought in a total of over $12 million for breast cancer research, the efforts of about 4,650 men and women who walked in and around San Diego to support the cause. Breast Cancer 3-Day Walks are a series of three-day, 60-milewalks dedicated to raising funds and awareness for the breast cancer movement. Mobile cities are created in a dozen select metropolitan areas where hundreds of crew members and volunteers come together to provide support for thousands of participants.

Of the money raised for the Breast Cancer 3-Day, 85% of the proceeds go to Breast Cancer research, treatment, and prevention. 15% goes to the National Philanthropic Trust.
