Responsibilities
Fugro West, Inc. has an immediate opening in our Ventura office for a full-time Commercial Manager. This individual will be responsible for oversight of tendering and commercial administration of nearshore/marine projects and other complex or higher risk projects at Fugro West. This includes identification of projects where a value-based pricing approach may be applied, and developing tendering approaches to capture added value for Fugro.
- Provide commercial support and leadership to project managers and nearshore geotechnical/survey operations.
- Develop and implement systems and procedures for teh efficient and effective management of the commercial aspects of projects.
- Assist in implementation of the company's Quality and HSE programs.
- Establish and maintain Master Services Agreements with Marine Service providers and vendors.
- Review and respond to Request for Quotations (RFQs), coordinating all contract budgeting, proposal preparation, and contract negotiations.
- Assume daily responsibility for compliance with terms and conditions of specific contracts.
- Oversee import/export procedures and requirements, survey and vessel permitting, and customs clearance of Company equipment and personnel.
- Build and maintain positive professional relationships with company staff, clients, potential clients, subcontractors, and key Fugro personnel worldwide.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 10 years experience, including 5 years in international marine/nearshore project/commercial management is required. An MBA with significant, relevant job experience may be substituted.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret contracts, specifications, administrative and technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
- Must continuously seek opportunities to commercialize the full value the company brings to our assignments, and to take advantage of opportunities for growth of our business.
- Have a strong commercial mindset and good negotiating skills, and be proficient in project management, contract review, and risk management.
- Ability to prepare sound business plans including cash flow, risk analysis, and profitability. Strong knowledge of contracting as well as marine SI practices and HSE systems requirements.
- Good working knowledge of accounting systems and procedures.
- Actively participate as a key member of the company’s management team and a leader of the firm. Be a positive example for staff.
- Excellent communication skills, including report writing, and public speaking. Must be fluent in written and spoken English.
- Ability to effectively lead meetings, presentations, and negotiating sessions.
- Ability to evaluate risk and develop strategies to mitigate risk and maximize profitability.
- Strong problem solving skills, with the ability to multi-task. Highly organized and able to work with deadlines. Must be computer proficient.
- Ability to work overtime and take phone calls outside normal working hours.
- Support and encourage continuous improvement of the company's processes, including, but not limited to, the Fugro West, Inc., safety program.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Possession of a valid California Driver's license, and an acceptable driving record.
- Applicants must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen.
