Position Descriptions

This is an excellent opportunity for the right individual to become a key member of Fugro Consultants’ national management team. The Manager of Fugro West will be responsible and accountable for the operations and performance of Fugro’s onshore and nearshore geotechnical engineering business unit in the western U.S. This includes leadership and vision on strategy, business development, oversight on operations, client satisfaction, staff development, and financial performance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Fugro West. Develop plans and strategies for profitable growth that are consistent with the Fugro group targets. Communicate the company’s vision, business plans, and strategies to the staff, monitor progress, and adjust as needed.
  • Manage the business for profitable growth along with excellent client satisfaction and attention to quality and safety.
  • Lead and actively participate in business development activities, development of client and teaming relationships, and pursuit of projects in Fugro’s target market sectors.
  • Oversee contractual and business risk management.
  • Supervise subordinate managers and senior administrative staff. Build staff resources at all levels to support the development and growth of the company.
  • Maintain a spirit of cooperation at all levels.
  • Liaise with other business units and operating companies within Fugro and Joint Venture partners. Foster cooperation for the benefit of the overall Fugro group.

Requirements:

  • Advanced degree in engineering, geology, business, or a related field with ten or more years experience in profitable management of technical businesses. California PE/GE license strongly preferred.
  • Proven leadership skills. Excellent organizational, delegation, and staff management skills. Excellent problem solving and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills in the English language. Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Working knowledge of basic business, legal, and accounting principles. Ability to procure a passport and to travel both domestically and internationally.
  • The successful candidate must possess a valid, unrestricted California driver's license, and have an acceptable driving record. The applicant must also successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen, physical examination, and background check.
