Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for project management; geotechnical analysis; report writing; and business development. The successful candidate must possess leadership and excellent technical skills. He or she will work with fellow staff to execute projects and pursuits. The primary focus will be on serving public- and private sector clients in the infrastructure, institutional, and industrial market areas.
- Direct, review and execute projects including staff assignments and engineering analysis.
- Conduct geotechnical engineering analysis and prepare reports.
- Direct and conduct field exploration and construction observation work.
- Provide senior-level review of proposals and reports, and ensure that commitments to clients are met.
- Lead and participate in proposal preparation and presentation.
- Mentor and train junior staff, and assist in business development, recruitment, and hiring.
- Work closely with group members to foster teamwork at all levels of the company.
- Excellent understanding and knowledge of geotechnical engineering and related disciplines.
- Proficiency in project management is required.
Requirements
- B.S./B.A. Required. M.S. or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering preferred.
- Registered/licensed engineer (California preferred).
- 9 or more years of experience preferred.
- Be a well-rounded engineer, able to provide creative and practical solutions to meet client needs.
- Excellent problem solving skills; ability to resolve both technical and personnel issues relevant to the job.
- The individual will be expected to be a leader, and set an example consistent with Fugro’s standards.
- The individual is expected to have excellent interpersonal skills that include: the ability to work effectively with peers, subordinates, and superiors. Must have an excellent ability to communicate in a professional manner, and seek a “win-win” solution.
- Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal.
- Excellent ability to facilitate teamwork.
- Computer literate in geotechnical engineering analyses programs, as well as word processing, spreadsheets, and other conventional business programs.
- Support and encourage support for continuous improvement of the company's processes including, but not limited to, the Fugro West, Inc., safety program.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Possession of a valid California Driver's license, and an acceptable driving record
- Applicants must complete a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
