| High Speed Railway HSL
Background
The High Speed Railway-South (HSL), from Amsterdam to the Belgium border, is a project with a great impact on the existing infrastructure. Besides the railway, the project also consisted of the construction of a railway crossing, relocation of existing railways near Breda, and relocation and widening of Highways A4 and A16 including Highway junctions Klaverpolder/A17 and Princeville A58.
A large number of Cone Penetration Tests (ca. 2450), borings and laboratory tests have been performed in relation to the construction of the High Speed Railway HSL. Part of the geotechnical soil investigation took place from the water. Geotechnical recommendations have been provided for the construction of a tunnel. Above works refer to HSL 3 (Berkel Rodenrijs - Rotterdam) en HSL 5 (Hazeldonk - Moerdijk).
