Marine Survey Projects- LNG Facility

LNG Mooring Terminal
Fugro performed a marine survey of an area offshore in water depths ranging from 15 meters to 300 meters. The site is under consideration as a potential mooring terminal for offshore tanker loading of liquefied natural gas. The survey field operations included a geophysical survey and regional bathymetric survey.

In addition to data from the echosounder, side scan sonar, and subbottom profiler systems, seabed samples were obtained using a grab sampler to provide ground-truthing of surveyed features. Pipelines, mooring buoys, seafloor features, sediment characteristics, and outcrops were identified and mapped.

Fugro used the M/V Tuna as the survey vessel. Wide area DGPS was used to position the vessel, using Hypack navigational software. An Odom MK-II survey grade echo sounder was used to acquire single beam bathymetric data. An Edgetech 260 digital dual frequency side scan sonar system was used to acquire seabed imagery and an Edgetech Geostar spread spectrum sub-bottom profiling system was used to investigate the near surface sediment for the project. Data were processed in Fugro's Ventura office.
