Earthquake Engineering- San Francisco Marina

City of San Francisco Marina- Liquefaction and Lateral Spreading
The objective of the liquefaction studies was to evaluate the effects of a potential moment magnitude 7.9 earthquake on underground utilities in San Francisco. The earthquake was assumed to occur on the San Andreas Fault. Fugro performed citywide micro-zonation study to:

  • Develop ground motions
  • Evaluate potential for soil liquefaction
  • Estimate magnitude of ground settlement
  • Estimate magnitude of lateral ground movement
  • Developed on inventory of utilities and established failure criteria
  • Evaluated damage potential to underground utilities
