Miranda Reservoir, Contra Costa County, California
Nestled on the lower flanks of Mount Diablo, EBMUD's Miranda Reservoir, a 2.5 million gallon steel tank, is an integral element in the drinking water delivery system to the growing Alamo and Walnut Creek areas of Contra Costa County.

Fugro conducted geotechnical and geologic studies for reservoir design. Geologic hazards, including landslides and a fault that crosses near the tank site, were some of the key issues. Fugro evaluated potential hazards and assisted EBMUD in locating the tank with an appropriate setback from the fault. Fugro then provided geotechnical design recommendations for cut slopes, tank foundations, pipelines, site retaining structures, and subsurface pit wall design.
