Multibeam Surveys- Sacramento River

Sacramento River Freeport Outfall, Multibeam Bathymetry, Freeport, California

Fugro conducted a high-resolution multibeam bathymetry survey to map the Sacramento Riverbed 1,000 feet downstream and 2,000 feet upstream from a sewer outfall to help identify any scouring our shoaling in the vicinity of the outfall and highlight any changes since the June 2006. Fugro’s client, Flow Science, is investigating the cause of reduced flow/capacity from the 10-foot diameter outfall for the Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District. The diffuser is exposed on the riverbed and has 99 ports along the pipe, which face downstream. Fugro’s purpose-built survey vessel Julie Ann was mobilized with the following survey equipment onboard: Pos/MV inertial navigation system, Reson 8101 multibeam sensor, and Odom Sound Velocimeter. Data was checked for quality in the field, and post-processed in Ventura.
