Carpinteria Salt Marsh Restoration Project

The $2.7 million Carpinteria Salt Marsh Project combines of flood control improvements combined with restoration of a 230-acre salt marsh. The flood control improvements consisted of a new 2,000-foot long flood wall using geocomposite sheet piles and reconstructing 1,800 lineal feet of earthen berm to provide additional flood control. The earthen berm was constructed using geo-grid reinforcement. The salt marsh restoration potion of the project consisted of excavating more than 4,000 lineal feet of tidal channel to restore portions of the salt marsh wetlands.

Fugro provided geotechnical design services for the floodwall and geo-grid reinforced earthen berm. During construction Fugro provided resident engineering, materials testing, and contract administration services for the project. The value of Fugro’s Design Services was $45,000 and the Value of the Construction Services provided was $160,000.
