San Mateo Downtown Transit Center and Train Station, San Mateo, California
The City of San Mateo's planned transit center consists of a 2-level underground parking garage, a pedestrian tunnel, widening and seismic upgrade to an existing railroad upgrading. In association with A-N West, Inc., Fugro performed geotechnical investigations for the project to replace and widen the bridges that cross San Pablo Creek at Miner Road and Manzanita Road.

The two and three span replacement bridges will be designed to withstand high overturning and uplift loads and to resist floodwater forces. One of the most significant geotechnical issues includes the constructibility of pier foundations to bedrock through the alluvial soil containing cobbles below the site.
