Geotechnical Engineering Studies
The geotechnical engineering analyses were performed to provide a basis for the preliminary cost and schedule evaluations in support of the environmental documents. The analyses performed included:
- Design and analyses of dike and structural wall containment systems for earthen platform in a highly seismic area with very soft foundation soil conditions.
- Prediction of settlements and design of ground improvement for the earthen fill and the underlying soft foundation soils.
- Delineation the required volumes of dredging for improving settlement and stability performance.
- Evaluation of techniques such as deep soil cement mixing to reduce dredging volumes/use dredge materials within the fill.
- Preparation of quantity estimates and drawings for earthen platform alternatives.
- Evaluation of liquefaction potential of existing airfield.
- Design of foundations for a pile-supported platforms and drivability analyses to evaluate the constructability of large diameter cylindrical concrete piles.
- Development of ground motion and engineering criteria for the future final design.
