Dolphin
The Dolphin is a remotely operated system of down-hole geotechnical tools with a stroke of 3 meters. The system is appropriate for deep over-water boreholes and is usually alternated with soil sampling. Sampling or in situ testing tools free-fall down the drill pipe; retrieval requires only an overshot on a sand line. The cone penetrometer employs a mud-powered thruster assembly at the base of the drill string. The system is compact and transportable by airfreight for quick mobilization. It can be used with essentially any drill rig suitable for geotechnical site investigations, including large rigs normally used for oil exploration.
