Seacalf
The Seacalf systems have been used for offshore investigations since 1972. It is a seabed rig for performing continuous static CPTs to water depths up to 6,000 meters. It can achieve a penetration of up to 50 meters.
The penetration force is provided by the Fugro Wheeldrive system in which four wheels grip the test rod and, when rotated, move it up or down. The basic unit weighs approximately 10 tons when submerged, but can be ballasted to suit individual projects. A second unit can be added to increase the weight to20 tons. The Seacalf can accommodate 36mm or 55mm diameter test rods.
